Still puffing at 83!

Scotland’s steam ‘Puffer’ VIC 32 is 83 years old this year. In 2026 the vessel is undergoing a major restoration programme backed by funding from the UK National Lottery Heritage Fund. And she will still be going strong after the restoration, resuming a regular steaming programme with guests onboard.

A few years ago now, Sydney yachtsman and architect, John Crawford, and mates, took a leisurely voyage on VIC 32. John described the trip as ‘the closest thing to sailing’ in an article in Australian Sea Heritage published in 2012.
