The voyage of HMS HERALD

A telephone call from one of our excellent past contributors to the print edition of Australian Sea Heritage, Ron Stannus, sent us back to the magazine’s archives seeking out a particular story Ron had submitted back in 2008.

It is a story of survey work in the 1850s and Ron weaves the tale of Captain Henry Mangles Denham RN and his remarkable survey voyage of nine years.
